Resin Injection Mat - Flomat®

Our resin injection mat is a highly conformable closed mold reinforcing material, designed for RTM, RTMLITE, RTM-LITE, RTM-LIGHT and other closed mold applications. It's a multi layer stitched product consisting of a highly conformable needled thermoplastic core sandwiched between 2 outside layers of chopped glass strand. This new product reduces lamination time by minimizing cutting and handling during tool loading. This specialty resin injection mat also offers fast part injection times and significantly improved cosmetic surface finish due to the products unique combination of core materials and chopped glass outer layers. FGI's proprietary sizing allows the end user complete compatibility, with Polyester, Vinyl Ester, Epoxy, and Polyurethane resin systems.

Comparison to Continuous Filament Mat (CFM) and Chopped Strand Mat (CSM)

Flomat flexural strength Flomat Fexural Modulus

Test Background:
Three laminates are compared using: 1) Flomat® 30C830, 2) 4 layers of 1.5 oz/sqft continuous filament mat “CFM”, and 3) 4 layers of 1.5 oz/sqft chopped strand mat “CSM”. All laminates were molded to 0.200 inches thick, using Ashland AME1000INF30 infusion resin. Consequently, all laminates have the same amount of fiber (6 oz/sqft) and fiber content by weight. The flexural properties of Flomat® are generally higher than either of the CFM or CSM laminates because the core in Flomat® pushes the glass to the surface on each side, making a more effective I-Beam configuration with the reinforcement near the surface. Same amount of glass, same amount of resin yet 20% stronger than continuous strand mat.

Flomat comparison to CFM and CSM

CFM and CSM uniformly distributed through laminate Flomat pushes glass to surface, for the I-Beam effect.

Packaging
All rolls of Flomat are individually packaged and palletized according to size and weight.
