Resin Injection Mat - Hi-Flomat®

Fiber Glass Industries HI-FLOMAT® - binderless chop glass skins stitched with 3D core has been developed for use in closed mold processes and is our next generation of closed mold structural fabrics. Hi-FLOMAT® has outstanding permeability that allows resin to fill a mold cavity at twice the rate of other mats as well as using up to 20% less resin in VARTM systems due to no back pressure. The HI-FLOMAT® design enables fast infusion of high filler content resin which can result in a fill time savings up to 50%.

FGI’s New 3D flow medium is made from Polypropylene Monofilament Yarn. The 3D construction design of the core has many advantages; the knitted X,Y,Z, format is extremely consistent and therefore infuses in a very predictable manner. It offers weight consistency and therefore predictable resin consumption that random products don’t offer. The 3D form at ambient pressure has a true X, Y, Z form -two horizontal dimensions along with a vertical dimension.

Applications:

Automotive parts – truck caps, tonneau covers.

Agricultural parts – pump housings, fan blades and shrouds.

Marine dock boxes and Industrial containers.

Features and Benefits:

HI-FLOMAT® offers a number of benefits including high conformability to complex shapes along with ease of handling and cutting, ease of flow and fill for very large molds. It has good elongation in all directions and provides an excellent surface finish which is a must to have for all molders manufacturing cosmetic parts. This product is designed for use with Polyester, VinylEster, Epoxy, and Polyurethane resin systems.

HI-FLOMAT® IS DESIGNED FOR HIGH VISCOSITY RESINS AND FILLED RESINS WITH UP TO 40% FILLER CONTENT BY WEIGHT.

Improved Productivity - HI-FLOMAT® will allow fast infusion of the resin which can result in fill time savings of as much as 50%.

Good Conformability - HI-FLOMAT® has good stretchability in all directions, great for complex geometry parts, you will save time preparing the mold.

Good Thickness Consistency – HI-FLOMAT® has good resistance to compression under load.

Ability To Fill Large Molds - Due to “open mesh” type of core the resin can flow faster and farther before cure.

HI-FLOMAT® is available in two FLOW MEDIA thicknesses to provide optimized mold filling in RTM, LRTM, VARTM, and VIP.

KP3 Core Weight: 103g/m² 3.3oz/yd² FOR USE IN 2-4MM CAVATIES Glass Weight Range: 300g/m² - 900g/m²

KP5 Core Weight: 155g/m² 5.25oz/yd² FOR USE IN 3-6MM CAVATIES Glass Weight Range: 300g/m² - 900g/m²

* Flow media is constructed from fiber with low density (0.96 g/cc versus 2.54 for fiberglass) resulting in minimal weight gain.

* The open X, Y, Z construction provides efficient resin distribution because the flow path is unimpeded requiring less resin to work effectively.

* FGI's 3D flow media effectively maintains its open construction and thickness under vacuum.

* 3D core is part of FGI's vertical integrated product line meaning product performance is uncompromised.

Packaging:

All rolls of Flomat are individually packaged and palletized according to size and weight.
